How do I know what kind of mattress I need ?

There are certain guides you can use for determining what your problem areas are and what works best for your body.  First, what's wrong with your old bed?  Is it too soft now or too firm or just broken down with no support whatsoever.  Have you recently slept in a nice hotel or in someone's guest bed that you woke up feeling good in?  If yes you need to try to find something that feels similar or reminds you of that comfort.  And MOST IMPORTANT, however you sleep; on your side, on your back, on your stomach, lay in that position on the mattress.  Are there any pressure point pains on the hips or shoulders or any lower back pains?  Also we all have one position we get in when we are ready to go to sleep.  Try laying in that position on the mattress to see if it's comfortable enough to fall asleep.

What should I be looking for in a mattress ?

The innerspring or foam core is important that is of good quality to hold up for many years, but the SLEEPING SURFACE is the most important part of the mattress for you.  This is what has to be just right for you body.  This is what is going to give you the right softness or firmness for your particular needs.  Where one person needs a lot of surface softness for severe pressure points, the next person could experience pain from too much surface softness.

Why do mattresses get body impressions and what can be done to fight them ?

You lay in that spot for six to eight hours (hopefully) every night so naturally the sleeping surface is going to be impacted.  Especially on a king size where you each sleep on one side and no one sleeps in the middle the grooves can be very noticeable.  The best way to fight the body sets is to turn your mattress every two to four months to let it recover.  Also the manufacturer has to use a product that will recover.  Some mattresses use products that stay crushed once they have been crushed in so there is nothing that can be done to keep them flat.  All of our mattresses use products that will recover if maintained properly.   With most mattresses being non-flip now days they should at least be turned head to toe.  A non-flip built using the right products and being turned from head to toe can fight body sets.

What is the difference between Visco Elastic and Latex ?

Both are products which we use to create special features in a sleeping surface.  Visco Elastic (Memory Foam) molds to your body as you sink into it so it forms into the curve of your back or your waist.  The Latex Rubber also forms to you but it does it by pushing up into the curve of you back or waist.  If a mattress is properly built and maintained you can get up to 15 years out of it.  But if you've had your mattress for 10 years and you are not comfortable anymore it is time to look for a new mattress.  Using the two in combination makes a wonderful bed.
